Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu appeared in this world to distribute Vraja-prema to the living entities and to show how to do bhajan.
When we visit His dhama, where He was present with all of His associates and hear about the pastimes He performed, we learn how He was spending His days and nights absorbed in divine sentiments, showing by His example how to attain self-realization.
Through Navadvipa-dham, through Gaura-lila we can understand Vrndavan-lila. Those who worship Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu they will understand Sri Sri Radha-Krsna. Those who don’t worship Navadvipa-dham then Vrndavana-dham will be very far away.
(Navadvip-astaka 78 by Srila Prabhodananda Sarasvati).
The specialty of Navadvipa-dham is that it does not take any offenses. Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai are most merciful. In Vrndavan-dham the compassion remains inside but in Navadvipa-dham audarya (compassion) has come outside. Srila Gurudeva gave a very nice example to illustrate how Gaura-dham is more merciful than Vrndavan-dham. He said in Krsna-lila mother Yasoda bound up baby Krsna because He was knotty. But in Gaura-lila when Neemai was angry smashing things in the kitchen mother Saci was caressing Him and consoling Him. Krsna killed Kamsa Maharaja but in Navadvipa-dham he received the mercy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
“It is very difficult to attain Vraja-prema but when you do Navadvipa-dham parikrama and chant the names of Gauranga then this Vraja-prema will come looking for you.” (Sri Prem Prayojan Prabhu during Navadvipa-dham parikrama).
